Several hundred don red shoes for Walk a Mile in Their Shoes in Peterborough

More than 300 participants donned red shoes and high heels for the 10th annual Walk a Mile In Their Shoes. The event supports the YWCA’s Crossroads Shelter which assists women and children fleeing domestic abuse and violence. One night is equivalent to $45.96 and organizers aim to raise enough for 3010 safe nights this year (approximately $138,339). Last year’s event raised $138,204.12 – the equivalent of 3,007 safe nights at the shelter. The YWCA’s Jen Cureton says this year high heels were optional.
