Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano erupted Thursday, following over two weeks of destructive fissures, poisonous smog and towering plumes of ash. Cameras belonging to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) captured the explosion. The National Weather Service issued the first ever ashfall advisory for Hawaii on Tuesday. The Hawaii Emergency Management Agency tweeted following the eruption that the ash plume is expected to spread southeast, making driving conditions dangerous, and warned residents to shelter in place, if possible.
