The federal government and the province of Quebec are fighting over a 1779 painting by French artist Jacques-Louis David, called “Saint Jerome Hears the Trumpet of the Last Judgment.” As Amanda Jelowicki explains, the dispute is over whether the art is a national or provincial treasure.
