Chemicals have been found in soil samples at the old Domtar wood treatment facility site in northeast Edmonton. Dr. Chris Sikora, a medical officer of health with Alberta Health Services, said “exposure to these contaminants in large amounts over long periods of time can lead to an increase in risk to human health.”
