International Women’s Day Conference in Peterborough

International Women’s Day was celebrated in Peterborough at a daylong conference. More than 200 women took part in the event. with the theme “Engage, Share and Empower.” Keynote speaker Samra Zafar talked about a life in Abhu Dhabi, growing up under a cloud of humiliation. Her parents and husband telling her she was a worthless piece of shame. Now a human rights activist and scholar, Zafar talked about the importance of connecting with other people to heal and succeed.
