Quebec’s optometrists say they are opting out of medicare

Wed, Feb 7: Every Quebecer, including children, the elderly and those on social assistance will have to pay for their eye exams as of March 10, according to the province’s association of optometrists after failed negotiations between the province and the professional association. As Global’s Raquel Fletcher reports, the Couillard government insists both sides can still reach an agreement, and that the withdrawal from RAMQ is just a maneuver.
