On September 13, the International Olympic Committee formally awarded the 2024 and 2028 Olympic Games to Paris and Los Angeles. The two cities were the only ones left in the race when other, smaller cities dropped out of the competition when the cost of hosting became apparent. Redmond Shannon reports.
