Critics say it’s unnecessary, proponents say it should go further. Ontario’s new Pharmacare plan will be the first big step towards universal access to drugs in Canada. It will only cover residents up to the age of 24 – that will keep costs down initially. But once established, many expect drug coverage will expand to all ages, in all provinces.
