Sidewalk sleeping ban in Kelowna prompts protest

Dozens of protesters held a sit-in outside Kelowna city hall Monday evening to express opposition to council’s vote in favour of banning sleeping on sidewalks 24-hours a day.

While Mayor Colin Basran says the move does not target homeless people, protesters say council is not only violating the rights of local residents, they’re discriminating.
