Family photo with Castro prompted threats

A Kelowna woman has come forward following the death of Cuban dictator Fidel Castro to share a family story.

Carol Neish has a black and white photo of her parents Elgin (“Scotty”) and Gladys Neish when they visited Castro in Cuba in April 1961.

It happened to be during the Bay of Pigs invasion, which delayed their return back to British Columbia.

Neish says their family received threats because of their ties to communism.
