MLSE transforming 42,000 square-foot space into ‘Launchpad,’ a sport and wellness facility for youth

MLSE and MLSE Foundation are transforming a 42,000 square foot facility at 259 Jarvis St. in Toronto into “MLSE Launchpad,” a space for youth to play and learn. The facility aims to use sport to encourage mental and physical health while preparing kids for school and the work force. Once open in February 2017, after only 12 months of construction, the site will boast an NBA regulation size court, a soft court play area, a rock wall, a nutrition kitchen, and classroom programs focusing on the importance of education. The space sat empty for 20 years, but Global’s Megan Robinson takes a look inside the construction site for what will become MLSE Launchpad.
