He was always viewed as the poet laureate of the rock era, but it still came as a surprise when Bob Dylan was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature. He’s the first songwriter to be honoured. The Nobel committee said Dylan “created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition.” Eric Sorensen reports.
