Thu, Oct 6: A Trenton, Ont. man, and double amputee who climbed Mount Kilimanjaro last month, will be honoured tonight in Toronto at the Canada’s Walk of Fame celebrations. John Cairns will receive the 2016 Peter Soumalias Unsung Hero Honour. It’s an award given annually to a Canadian who makes outstanding contributions to the community and who inspire the next generation. Cairns, whose life took an unexpected turn at 26 following a work-related accident, is being recognized for his positive outlook and and for encouraging those around him to never give up.
