Why is Italy so susceptible to devastating earthquakes?

Italy is one of the most earthquake prone regions in the world, squeezed between two great tectonic plates. As Eric Sorensen reports, Italy endures a strong quake on average every two years, and hundreds of smaller quakes every decade but scientists still can’t predict where or when then next one will hit.
