The first female firefighter in Mississauga history is trying to empower a new generation. Shelli Varela is leading a camp filled with teenage girls who have been told all their lives they couldn’t do the same jobs as men. With only 15 women on a force of over 600, the Mississauga fire service is hoping they’ll rise to the challenge. Mike Drolet reports.
