City aware for years of soft soil near sinkhole incident, says director of rail implementation

Steve Cripps, the director of rail implementation office, said the city was “certainly” aware of the soil conditions in the area prior to Wednesday’s sinkhole. Cripps also noted the city and workers have taken “extensive precautions to deal with the soil in that area.”
