The Turrialba volcano erupted early on Thursday, May 12, ejecting a cloud of volcanic ash, gas and rocks from its crater around 30 miles east of Costa Rica’s capital, San Jose. The National University’s Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica (OVSICORI) reported that the eruption scatted rocks across the Central Valley.
