Initially made by the Conservative government in February 2014, the deal would see General Dynamics Land Systems manufacture light-armoured military vehicles, known as LAV3s, for the Saudi Arabian National Guard. Groups such as Amnesty International, Project Ploughshares, the Rideau Institute, and the Canadian Council for International Cooperation have called for a reconsideration of this deal in light of Saudi Arabia’s human rights record.
