Toronto mom acquitted in disabled daughter’s death made ‘best’ decision at time of guilty plea

Maria Shepherd, of Brampton, Ont., who was acquitted after pleading guilty 25 years ago to killing her three-year-old stepdaughter, says she made the decision in an effort to keep her family together.
