The Mayor of Cleveland apologized to Tamir Rice’s family, saying he is sorry if a $500 dollar claim for emergency services has caused them further pain. City officials say the family was never billed directly for emergency services the 12-year-old received after he was fatally shot by Cleveland police in 2014. Mayor Frank Jackson says the filing was made to Rice’s medical insurance company as part of a routine procedure but the bill was not intended to be sent to the Rice family.
