Prime Minister Mark Carney on Wednesday announced that Canada is slashing steel import quotas for countries that do not have a free trade agreement with Canada from 50 to 20 per cent of 2024 levels. And countries outside the U.S. and Mexico that do have trade pacts with Canada will see their quotas dropped from 100 to 75 per cent of last year’s levels. “There’s no change in the tariff for the U.S. or for Mexico,” Carney said.
