Carney responds to U.S. ambassador, says bigger trade deal ‘not on the table, but still possible’

Asked about comments made this week by U.S. Ambassador to Canada Pete Hoekstra, saying his great disappointment was being unable to secure a bigger deal than just the CUSMA deal that encompasses critical minerals, steel, energy and nuclear, Prime Minister Mark Carney said that it “is not on the table, but it’s still possible.” Carney made the comment while announcing a new strategic partnership with Mexico on Thursday.
