General Motors Canada has confirmed the next generation of gas-powered Chevrolet Silverado pickup trucks will be built at the Oshawa assembly plant in a series of recent social media posts. This is despite ongoing U.S. tariff threats. Earlier this year, there were fears production could move south of the border after GM announced it will reduce operations in Oshawa this fall. One leading automotive industry expert says the next-gen Chevy Silverado 1500 is a high-end truck and Canada has been competitive in manufacturing new vehicles.
