The House of Commons adopted the government’s reply to the throne speech “on division” — it was held without a recorded vote and any opposition. Earlier in the day, NDP Leader Don Davies had said NDP MPs were set to vote against the speech. Government House leader Steven MacKinnon said the vote on the throne speech is a confidence matter, which means it was the first real test of Prime Minister Mark Carney’s government.
