U.S. President Donald Trump says he is pausing his 50 per cent tariffs on European Union imports, which were set to take effect June 1, after a call with European Commission President Ursula Von Der Leyen on Sunday. European shares rose sharply Monday, and are poised to recoup the previous session’s losses after Trump delayed his threat to impose the tariff on the region until July 9.
