White House warns Beijing against further retaliatory tariffs, says it won’t be ‘good for China’

In the latest move in the U.S. and China’s unfolding trade war, Beijing raised tariffs on incoming American goods to 125 per cent — up from 84 per cent — inching closer to the 145 per cent levies President Donald Trump has imposed on Chinese-made goods. Though she said Friday Trump was “optimistic” about reaching a tariff deal with China, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt warned Friday that “if China continues to retaliate, it’s not good for China.”
