International Women’s Day in Halifax: A celebration of progress and resilience

Barbel Williams noticed a void in International Women’s Day celebrations in Halifax. She sought to fill the gap, creating an afternoon of speeches, poetry and music highlighting the fight for women’s rights, as well as celebrating their successes. For Williams, the day is especially important this year due to a rising backlash against women’s rights and feminism around the world.
