Asked if he takes president-elect Donald Trump’s jokes about Canada merging with the U.S. and becoming the 51st state seriously, Ontario Premier Doug Ford joked that he’ll “make a counter-offer” and buy Alaska and Minnesota instead. The question came as Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced his resignation as Liberal Party Leader while Canada faces Trump’s threats of 25 per cent tariffs.
