Across New Brunswick, fire departments are reporting record-breaking numbers of calls. The president of the province’s fire chief association said that has to do with a rise in medical calls, while Fredericton’s assistant deputy fire chief is pointing to population growth. And, Khurshid Khan – or Mr. Khan to many – died recently. He was the owner of Khan’s HFX, a small grocery store in Spryfield and was known in the community as a man with integrity, generosity and honestly. He was the first man to make halal food accessible in Nova Scotia, often going above and beyond, according to his daughter Masuma Khan.
