UBC research suggests salt’s harm on Vancouver salmon stocks

Halfway through their five-year research project into the effects of road salt on salmon stocks on the Lower Mainland, researchers at the University of British Columbia have made a startling observation: salt in local streams spikes when the roads are salted and sodium could kill as much as 70% of juvenile Coho salmon.
