Notorious schoolgirl killer Paul Bernardo is appearing before the Parole Board of Canada on Tuesday as he seeks parole after serving an indeterminate life sentence for the kidnapping, sexual assault, and murder of teenagers Kristen French and Leslie Mahaffy in the early 1990s. The hearing, taking place in Quebec after his transfer from a maximum-security facility in Ontario, initially denied the families of the victims to deliver their victim impact statements in person. Although the decision was reversed, only Mahaffy’s mother will attend in person, while other family members will submit their statements remotely due to time constraints.
