Employment Minister Randy Boissonnault apologized “unequivocally” Friday after facing criticism for shifting claims of his Indigenous identity, saying that he is still learning about his family history. Pressed further, he said while he was adopted by an Indigenous family, he “never claimed Indigenous status.” He further stated he joined Indigenous caucus because he felt it was “important to be an ally.”
