Canadian Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre went after the Liberal’s price on pollution during question period in the House of Commons on Wednesday in the wake of Donald Trump’s win of the 2024 U.S. election. “I can’t think of anyone who would more favour quadrupling the carbon tax to $0.61 a litre in Canada than this prime minister. I think perhaps President [Elect] Trump wouldn’t mind because of course it would mean our trucking companies, our factories, our mines will all shut down and go south of the border where they will pay zero carbon tax,” Poilievre said.
