U.S. authorities in Georgia say seven people were killed and three are in critical condition after the “catastrophic failure” of a gangway on a ferry dock at Sapelo Island on Saturday. The collapse occurred as people were waiting for a ferryboat on the island, roughly 60 miles (97 kilometres) south of Savannah, according to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, which runs the ferry.
