Paddles up… And the total is up! This year’s Peterborough Dragon Boat Festival was another record-breaking event in support of cancer care at Peterborough’s hospital.
Organizers on Wednesday announced the 23rd festival raised $312,025.18 for the PRHC Foundation – shattering last year’s record of $290,000.
This year’s festival featured 69 teams, over 1,300 paddlers and more than 3,455 donations.
Last year the hospital saw over 23,000 cancer care visits
Since its inception, the festival has raised more than $4.5 million for breast and other cancer screening, diagnosis and treatment.
Cancer survivors and paddlers including Jennie Ireland say they’re grateful for the support and care.
