The Barrie Police Service has launched a pilot project called Virtual Call Response. The pilot allows certain non-emergency calls for service, such as when there is no immediate threat to people or property, to be addressed through a secure video chat with a police officer at the Barrie Police headquarters. The pilot is in the works for October with Sergeant Bill Grant serving as the VCR officer.
