An event aimed at introducing people to the trades industry was held in Halifax on Saturday. Every year the Nova Scotia Construction Centre Council’s open house brings out hundreds of people looking to explore new career opportunities. Global’s Ella Macdonald reports. Nearly 40 competitors from around Canada took part in a lumberjack competition near Fredericton. From axe throwing to chain sawing to the spring board chop, the athletes were busy. Along with friendly competition and community, one athlete says it’s a growing sport for women. Global’s Anna Mandin reports.
