Ottawa Police Detective Akiva Gellar said Wednesday that a famous portrait of a scowling Sir Winston Churchill taken from the halls of Ottawa’s Fairmont Chateau Laurier has been tracked down in Italy after a two-year investigation. The portrait was determined to have been sold through an auction house in London to an Italian buyer, both of whom were unaware that the piece was stolen, according to a statement from police.
