On Thursday at the Democratic Party’s 2024 convention in Chicago, Ill., the current U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris formally accepted the party’s presidential nomination. During her acceptance speech, Harris shared the stories she has heard from women and families across the country, citing instances of limited access to birth control, forced pregnancy, and restrictions on medical care. Harris emphasized the importance of reproductive rights, stating, “We trust women. And when Congress passes a bill to restore reproductive freedom as president of the United States, I will proudly sign it into law.”
