China and the Philippines traded accusations Monday after two of their Coast Guard ships collided earlier that morning in the South China Sea. China’s state broadcaster CCTV aired video which it claimed showed the Philippines vessel “deliberately” ramming the Chinese ship despite. A spokesperson for the Philippine’s South China Sea task force said two of its Coast Guard vessels had “encountered unlawful and aggressive maneuvers” from the Chinese vessel.
