Speaking on behalf of Secretary-General António Guterres on Monday, United Nations (UN) spokesperson Stephane Dujarric demanded the “immediate and unconditional release” of UN personnel that have been detained by Houthi rebels in Yemen. In June, Dujarric revealed that Houthis had captured 11 employees – nine men and two women, working between five different UN agencies.
