FIFA has announced it will deduct six points from Canada’s national women’s soccer team at the Paris Olympics following this week’s drone soccer scandal. Along with the points, the organization announced head coach Bev Priestman has been suspended from all soccer activities for one year and that the Canadian Soccer Federation will face a fine of $226,000. In a statement following the sanctions, Canada Soccer CEO Kevin Blue said Canada Soccer is disappointed with the impact of the decision on the athletes, and they are now exploring appeal options.
