How women were crucial to success of D-Day

While D-Day stories are usually about men who stormed the beaches of Normandy to fight Nazi Germany, 1.1 million women also had critical roles in defeating the enemy. They served with the Western Allies as codebreakers, ship plotters, radar operators and cartographers. Dawna Friesen speaks with Lucille Lane, a Women’s Royal Canadian Naval Service (WRCNS) veteran, about her vivid memories of what was at stake during the Second World War.
