Approximately 20,000 pounds of food were collected Saturday through the spring “Porch Pirates for Good” community food drive in support of Kawartha Food Share.
About 300 volunteers helped the food bank plunder front porches across the city for non-perishable food items as well as hand out flyers.
Sports teams, students, and community members of all ages lent a hand.
In the last four years, the Pirates collected more than 140,000 pounds of food and over $13,000 in monetary donations.
But, food bank use is still at an all-time high.
