Biden calls Qatar, Egypt leaders in push for Gaza deal: White House

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken urged Hamas to swiftly accept Israel’s latest and “extraordinarily generous” proposal for a Gaza truce to secure a release of hostages, at a special meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) held in the Saudi capital Riyadh on Monday. In Washington, D.C., White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters that U.S. President Joe Biden will speak with the leaders of Qatar and Egypt that day as he pushes for a deal aimed at a Gaza ceasefire and the release of some hostages held by Hamas militants.
