Chief Electoral Officer of Canada Stéphane Perrault said in a Thursday committee hearing on foreign election interference that his role was to refer any irregularities found through an audit to the commissioner but that he did not have “an enforcement role.” Perrault added that the commissioner would then have to make the determination as to what appropriate action would be undertaken.
