The Canadian federal procurement department has referred three cases of suspected invoicing fraud by IT sub-contractors to the police. On Wednesday, Procurement Minister Jean-Yves Duclos said that the department’s recent review uncovered fraudulent billing schemes that were being used between 2018 and 2022, resulting in the revocation of security clearance of those contractors. Duclos added that the department is now taking action to recover an estimated $5 million.
