Defence Minister Bill Blair said in Edmonton on Monday that the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) “cannot have any combat role, or what could be perceived as a combat role” as a condition for considering sending military personnel to Ukraine. Blair added that the CAF has “some work to do” regarding the level of the military’s readiness and that he has been “very carefully” reviewing defence spending, but that he anticipates it will continue to increase.
