In body camera footage released by the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Jesse Hernandez opened fire after mistaking the sound of a falling acorn for a muffled gunshot. Hernandez, who has since resigned, shot several times at an unarmed suspect who was detained inside a police cruiser. The suspect was not injured.
