Minister of Foreign Affairs Mélanie Joly said in Ottawa on Monday that NATO is “more united than ever,” after former president Donald Trump suggested over the weekend that he would not defend NATO allies who failed to spend enough on defence and would even encourage Russia to attack them, if he were to become president again. Joly also said that Canada “will be ready” for any election outcome in the U.S., as the federal government has “been able to manage two types” of White House administrations in the past already.
